Can you use a 2.0 USB in a 3.0 port?

Yes, 100%. Also, USB 3.0 will work in USB 2.0 ports. These platforms are backwards compatible, thankfully. However, the USB 2.0 flash drive will still run at the same old USB 2.0 speed in this port, and a USB 3.0 drive in a 2.0 port will have limited bandwidth and won't perform to the maximum.
